There are many different ways you can go about finding your dream wedding dress, with the most popular being an off-the-rack purchases or custom made.

There are benefits for both, so what are the differences?

Off-the-Rack Wedding Dress

• Pre-made and Ready-to-Wear: Off-the-rack wedding dresses are pre-made and available in standard sizes, typically ranging from extra-small to plus sizes.

• Availability: Some are ready for immediate purchase and can often be taken home or delivered shortly after purchase. Others need to be ordered to be made to the size you ahve selected so can take up to 10 months to be delivered.

• Alterations: Off-the-rack dresses are designed based on standard sizing and may not perfectly fit your body shape without alterations, and while getting a good fit is possible, changing or adding design features can be limited.

• Less Expensive: Generally, off-the-rack dresses are more budget-friendly compared to custom-made dresses, and it is worth including the cost of alterations in your budget too.

• Designed According to Your Specifications: A custom-made wedding dress is created especially for you based on your preferences, body measurements, and style choices.

• Unique and Personalised: With a custom dress, you have control over each aspect of the design, from fabric choice to silhouette, embellishments, and details.

• Perfect Fit: The dress is tailored to your exact measurements across a few fittings, adjusted at each, to ensure a perfect fit.

• Production Time: Custom-made dresses require time to produce since they are made from scratch based on your specifications. At OBriasco are able to work to a 3 month minimum but ideally we would have 6-12 months to create your dream dress.

• Higher Cost: Because of the personalised nature and craftsmanship involved, custom-made dresses are typically more expensive than off-the-rack options.
