Tell us about your wedding
Matt and I had been engaged for 2 years and had no plans to get married, until December 2023 we thought lets just do it!
We looked at a few venues and locked in both Duart House and Toi Toi. We wanted to do it sooner rather than later so locked in 29 March 2024, giving us only 3 months to get everything organised. We were hoping to get the last of the Summer weather. Deciding to get married in 3 months isn’t everyones cup of tea but everything seemed to fall into place perfectly.
We wanted a mix of both traditional and non-traditional so both venues catered to that. We had the ceremony in the Duart House gardens, before heading to Toi Toi for the reception. We had planned to be in the Laneway at Toi Toi, but due to the weather we change our plans last minute and used the foyer at the Opera House, and we’re so happy we did! Everything looked perfect & couldn’t imagine it any other way.

What was most important for your wedding?
We really wanted fun vibes with our favourite people. How often do you get all your favourite people together in one place?! And having the right venue, good music, good food and drinks were the key to creating the vibe.
We’re both pretty go with the flow, there’s no point in stressing about small things, you’ll still be married even if the napkins aren’t folded right! So having this mindset when there are so many little details in putting a wedding together was great, we could still enjoy the process. And no one will know if things go wrong, they’re all there to have a good time, and that’s exactly what we did.

How did you choose your dress?
I knew I wanted quite a simple, classic dress with a touch of fun. I tried on a couple of styles at OBriasco and knew straight away the silhouette that suited me. We customised the Jackie Dress by adding a train and changing the fabric.
Being a strapless dress with a classic silhouette, we could easily add accessories to it. I couldn’t decide which I preferred so went with both! I had the tulle sleeves for the ceremony, the more traditional part of the wedding, and the fun puff sleeves later on for the reception. I loved my dress and the easy change of sleeves changed the whole look!
It was such an amazing fun experience having my dress made and customised for me. I was able to be part of the process and we created the dress that fit beautifully and felt perfect for such a special day.
